Hello! I’m Annalise. I have always lived in North London but more recently made the move to the West Country and now live in beautiful Bath, in Somerset, UK.

Bath is a really interesting place to live and it’s a photographers dream. It is only a short train ride to London and you have the best of both worlds living in a city but you can nearly always see the countryside.

Bath is a UNESCO world heritage site, its heritage founded by the Roman’s as a spa town, making use of the hot springs and building the Roman Baths which can still be visited today. Bath then became very popular in the Georgian period, which is one of the things I love the most about Bath; its beautiful Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone.

Bath Top Tips

I get asked a lot for my top tips in Bath so this post is perfect opportunity to share them with you. In Bath, you can walk everywhere on foot making it really easy to get around.

Its fairly hilly, this means you get some beautiful views. To see all of the stunning architecture, start by going on your own walking tour!

Some must see’s include Abbey Green and the cute streets off this, The Circus, and Great Pulteney Street .

Everyone goes to visit the Royal Crescent – why not go and explore some of the other Crescents? My favourite is Lansdown which often has sheep feeding in it!

Pulteney bridge is also a must see! And you’ll want to see it from every angle! If you are in Bath at sunset, stop at the coffee shop on the bridge to enjoy sunset views. You might also want to take a look at the bridge from behind for a totally different angle, walk past the Orvis shop towards Waitrose.

You also should walk over the bridge, past the much photographed florist, down the steps on the right and you can see the bridge from below with a church spire in the background.

Enjoy a walk through pretty Sydney Gardens, past The Holburne Museum (worth visiting), down to the canal.

If you are lucky enough to visit in summer, head over to Bath Boating Station and get a rowboat out or try punting? A few other places to visit which offer incredible views over Bath; Beckford’s tower, The Bath Abbey Tower Tour, or walk up to Alexandra Park?

Where to Eat in Bath

After all the sightseeing you’ll be wanting something to eat! My recommendations are: Café Walcot, Courtyard Café, Castle Farm Midford, Corkage, Beckfords Bottles and Noya’s kitchen.

Further Afield

From Bath, you can also relatively easily visit some really beautiful quintessential English villages and towns in Wiltshire and Somerset such as Castle Combe, Bradford Upon Avon, Frome, Corsham etc or you can easily get to the coast and visit seaside places like Clevedon with its magnificent Victorian pier.

There are also a large number of stunning National trust properties nearby worth visiting for example Dyrham Park, Great Chalfield Manor, Prior park, or Tyntesfield.
